    Carlene was born the third child and second daughter of six children in a small rural Alabama town to parents who believed hard work and perseverance is an essential character trait for a successful and meaningful life.   

    At the age of 15, Carlene was married for a period of eight years, out of that marriage three beautiful daughters were born. She went on to complete high school with her first born in her arms and her second child in her womb.   

    After graduating from high school, she attended and completed a practical nurse program, which fueled the fire for more knowledge in the field of nursing. After serving as a practical nurse for eight years, Carlene was compelled to become a registered nurse. She attended and graduated from Troy State University in Montgomery, and in 2018 will begin her PhD program in Social Psychology.  

    Carlene has over thirty years’ experience in the field of nursing, primarily mental health and forensics. Over the span of these thirty years, she has served in various leadership roles, coordinated opening and managing substance abuse units, mental health units. Both privatized and state run health care delivery systems.   

    Carlene is the Founder and CEO of findingmyelbow, LLC. She has authored her first booklet in the series of many to come, titled “Pearls along the Path of Destiny.” She is currently writing “Pearls 2.0.” She has been a licensed minister for 16 years, and an Ordained Elder for 5 years. 

    One important “pearl” Carlene values most, is a quote from William Shakespeare’s play, Hamlet, “To thine own self be true and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.”   

    Carlene resides in Alabama with her husband of twenty-one years, with their friendship spanning close to thirty years. Her husband joined Carlene in raising and caring for her three daughters. Out of their union was born an amazing young man, their son. Carlene has four wonderful grandchildren who are her delight. She also has the joy of their three-year-old American Bully named Delilah.
